We loves us some Feng Shui

A good Feng Shui lion in front of the HSBC building in Hong Kong. This guy must be protected by something because this cool statue didn't get NEAR as much love as this thing:


This rugby-playing plastic monstrosity was petted, poked, kissed, fondled and otherwise manhandled by nearly every person that walked in the door. Even the people that worked there were all over it. I saw one girl GIVE IT TONGUE. Had she only knew how many skanky bitches and swarthy guys touched right there, I think she would have reconsidered.

My horoscope today said that "my insecurity has taken on a life of its own". That's comforting. Now I remember why I quit reading horoscopes. High Tide

On the Piney! About three days after we were there last, the banks could no longer contain the flood water and the river rose to about 10 feet from where our tent stood just a few days previously. I don't *think* The Lodge took on any water, but it would have been a really close call, and for those of you that don't know, The Lodge is easily a 150-ft. walk from the normal river bank. ...which means I steal lyrics, right? I heard that line in a 90's song (coincidentally, the one that I thought said "It's gettin, it's gettin, it's gettin kinda hectic" but I only now realize they're saying HEAVY, not hectic) and I can't figure out why you'd want to promote yourself as a lyrical thief. In other news, I've completely failed at maintaining the calm demeanor I worked so hard at cultivating during my voluntary solitude of just two short weeks ago. It promptly vanished like a fart in the wind upon my arrival at the office. I wonder if the Europeans have this problem after having been holidaying for two solid weeks in August.
